What is Onzen?

Onzen has a long history and I developed it as a tool for my daily work. The first (not published) version was written in TclTK and I used it already for years. Now I recreated Onzen as a Java SWT program and published it as OpenSource.

Features

• update, commit, add, remove, rename, revert files managed in a RCS

• support the RCS:
- Concurrent Version System (CVS)

• can show diff in two-columns with added/changed/deleted/white-space changes lines

• view file revisions tree, view files content

• view changes of lines (annotations)

• list changed files

• create and store patches in internal database

• send patches review mailsm, support review board server

• can use internal/external diff commands

• internal and external mail command

• edit files with external program; select external program by MimeTypes or file name pattern

• open/rename/delete/find local files

• fast even with a slow remote connection: many operations are done asynchronous in background

• multiple repositories in separated tabs

• multiple repository lists

• keep history with commit messages in database, broadcast commit messages to other Onzen instances via UDP message

• written in Java with SWT: available for Linux, Solaris, MacOSX, Windows

Requirements

• Linux, Solaris, MacOS, or Windows system with CVS, SVN, HG, and/or GIT installed

• Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.6 or newer

• external tools for edit files, e. g. a text editor (optional)
